Digital Birmingham has been set up to help Birmingham make the transition from an industrial city to a digital city that is at the forefront of the information age. By digital, Birmingham city council, mean electronic transfer of data using different devices e.g. Digital TV, Mobile Phone, PC, Internet etc
According to their introductory site in order to compete in today’s global world, businesses, must take advantage of the different technologies to reach their customer base. Efficiency could be improved through using e-procurement or overheads reduced by using mobile working. Having a web presence could increase the company visibility to a global audience and help them increase their market share.
It is important to take account of the changing technologies in order to deliver companies products, services in ways that the consumer wants. Failure to communicate could lead to loss of customers.
Digital Birmingham aims to encourage the businesses to compete in a digital world by increasing their awareness of digital technologies.
